Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and representatives from AT&T Michigan will present checks to the winners of the OakGov Challenge. Patterson, in his 2010 State of the County address, announced the contest inviting tech-savvy programmers in the Economic Growth Alliance region (Oakland, Livingston, Genesee, Lapeer and St. Clair counties) to create new ideas and applications that take a plethora of public record data and turn them into either a web or smartphone application. The winners will share a total of $10,000 in prize money sponsored by AT&T Michigan. Following the announcement of the OakGov Challenge winners, Oakland County’s IT Department will introduce journalists to its latest Web 2.0 technologies on the improved Access Oakland portal, a leading edge Internet tool built to provide both free and fee-based immediate access to Oakland County's land and property records. There will be a hands-on demonstration.
10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010.
IT Building Auditorium, Building 49 West, 1 Campus Drive South, Waterford, MI 48328 (behind the Oakland County Farmers Market).
