Friends and family look on as the commissioners take the oath of office.  Family members of the newcomers to the commission were introduced to the crowd after the new commissioners took their oath of office.

New Commissioner Steve Schwartz (District #14) smiles as fellow newcomer Shelley Taub (District #16, below) introduces her supporters to the audience.  This inauguration marked the return to the commission for Ms. Taub, who most recently had been a state representative in Lansing.

Commissioner David Coulter (District #25) sits wistfully thinking of what might have been as he temporarily chairs the commission meeting which followed the inauguration.  Coulter, a Democrat, presides as Republican Bill Bullard, Junior (District #2) is elected permanent chair for this term of the Board of Commissioners.
