It is my pleasure to present you with the 2008-2009 Directory, a complete guide to the wide array of services offered by Oakland County.

As part of our Salute to Justice issue this year, youll find information about Oakland Countys Sixth Judicial Circuit Court and the Oakland County Probate Court. As always, our directory will help you find the county contact numbers you need most, everything from airports to Animal Control, parks to planning, law enforcement, the Health Division and Veterans Services.

Here at the Clerk and Register of Deeds Office, we are continuing to enhance our web site, www.oakgov.com/clerkrod, as part of our online, not in-line philosophy.

We believe in transparency and accountability in government and now offer Campaign Finance records online. Want to see who gave money to local political candidates or committees? You can easily access campaign finance records, for free, on our web site.

Court Explorer, which allows online users to view basic Circuit Court case information and order copies of documents electronically, remains very popular. We have taken precautions to remove sensitive information from the online service, part of our ongoing efforts to combat identity theft.

We continue to strive to provide the best service at the lowest possible cost. Our elections team, for example, has assumed responsibility for the computer programming of ballots, saving a total of $180,000 a year for local communities and the county. As a result, ballots are arriving earlier than ever before to your city, township or village.
