Chemicals in Your Community

The Oakland County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) publishes this Public Notice in accordance with Section 324 of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III) of 1986.

The following information submitted by facilities to the Oakland County LEPC in accordance with SARA Title III is available for public review at the LEPC office:

  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for a hazardous substance
  • A specific facility's Hazard Substance Inventory Form(s)
  • Follow-up Emergency Notices (hazardous material release information)

Requests for an appointment to review the information can be made by calling the office during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) at (248) 858-5300 or by writing to the Oakland County LEPC, c/o Oakland County Emergency Response and Preparedness, 1200 N Telegraph Road, Dept 410, Pontiac MI 48341-0410.  Requests for copies of the information reviewed are subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Michigan Homeland Security Act and the trade secret provisions of SARA Title III.

Additional information regarding the LEPC can also be found on this website or in brochures developed by the Oakland County LEPC entitled "Chemicals in Your Home, "Major Chemical Emergencies: What to do in Case of a Large Chemical Emergency" and Sheltering In Place."
