Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is proud to announce the establishment of the Dennis Toffolo Endowed Scholarship at Oakland Community College. The scholarship will recognize achievement and provide assistance to OCC students pursuing careers in the Emerging Sectors fields.
Patterson announced the scholarship at his 2010 State of the County address on February 3 in honor of his late Deputy Executive Dennis Toffolo, who died unexpectedly in 2009. As deputy executive, Toffolo was in charge of the Emerging Sectors business attraction and retention strategy. Under his five years of guidance, the program attracted more than $1.4 billion in investment and created or retained more than 24,000 jobs.
Toffolo was a product of and a strong supporter of community colleges. The Dennis Toffolo Endowed Scholarship at OCC is a great way to ensure his legacy. OCC Students will be able to apply for the scholarship early this summer. The first scholarships will be granted this fall.
