Oakland County Health Division Communicable Disease Unit


The Health Division's Communicable Disease Unit (OCHD-CDU) is committed to protecting the health of Oakland County residents. Working together with community partners, OCHD-CDU investigates and studies disease in the population. OCHD-CDU detects and prevents communicable disease outbreaks such as influenza, while working with our community partners for educational outreach.

Information is available through links on this website for many diverse topics including animal bites and rabies, and vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, whooping cough and hepatitis. You may also contact the Communicable Disease Unit at 248-858-1286 for more specific questions.

To report a public health emergency, inquiries regarding possible rabies exposure or other serious communicable diseases after hours or on the weekend, call 248-858-0931 and ask for the health adminstrator on call.
