The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program uses a comprehensive team approach with the lead burdened child. The team includes:
- Nurses
- Sanitarians
- Nutritionists
- Health Educators
Evaluation of the child's environment by a nurse or sanitarian may identify the possible source of lead. Education is provided to the families and health care providers to reduce the level of lead in the child's blood and maintain it at a safe level. Environmental Health Services assists on a limited basis with grants and low interest loans for the removal of lead from homes.
A HEPA vacuum is available for a refundable deposit. Call Environmental Health Services at 249-424-7190 for more information.
