Trusty Camp

The Trusty Camp is made up of low-level offenders who serve their time by giving back to the community. Community groups who have benefited from Trusty services include:

  • Animal Shelter
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan
  • Easter Seals Disability Services
  • Focus Hope
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • HAVEN
  • Lighthouse of Oakland County, Inc.
  • Marine Division
  • Special Olympics

In addition, the Trusties have also been responsible for details in the County Parks.

INMATE INFORMATION

Visitation

Trusties are allowed one visit per week. A visitation session date and time is assigned when the inmate first arrives at the Work Camp. Visitors not on the visiting list will not be allowed to visit. Visiting days are:

Saturday & Sunday

  • Either 1:30-2:30 p.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Visits will last a minimum of 30 minutes but not longer than 1 hour. Visitors whose name is not on the visiting list will not be allowed entry into the Work Camp. Adult visitors (Age 17 and older) must have picture identification. A parent or guardian must accompany visitors under the age of 17 years.

Trusties are allowed two (2) visitors. Visitors must come together, however they do not have to leave together. Personal items must be left in vehicles since lockers are not available.

VISITORS ATTEMPTING TO BRING IN CONTRABAND WILL BE PROSECUTED.

Inmate Mail

Incoming mail will be inspected for money and contraband.

Contraband in the mail may:

  • Be returned to the sender
  • Confiscated
  • Result in prosecution of the sender

The following items are not permitted:

  • Cash
  • Lipstick, tape, glue, ink stamps and stickers etc.
  • Nude or sexually explicit photos/drawings, etc.
  • Instant photos
  • No stamps or envelopes
  • Newspaper clippings, pornographic material or any other items not allowed by jail policy.
