About Oakland County Waste Resource Management

Brad at ConferenceOakland County's Waste Resource Management Division is a service division and commission under the authority of the Oakland County Economic Development and Community Affairs Department.

This division facilitates the Oakland County Solid Waste Plan and coordinates programs and activities that support the environment, our local municipalities, and the residents and businesses of Oakland County.

Two of the programs facilitated by this Division include the Oakland Brownfield Initiative and North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium, also known as NO HAZ.  Brownfields are "abandoned idle or underused industrial and commercial properties where redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived contamination."  Oakland County's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (OCBRA) was established in 2001 to aid local communities and developers in obtaining Brownfield incentives from both Federal and State agencies.  To find out more, please contact us.

The NO HAZ Program helps residents of participating communities safely dispose of their household hazardous waste.  At least two collection events per year are scheduled for NO HAZ communities.  Please see the NO HAZ pages for more information.
