America Recycles Day

recycle!America Recycles Day Campaign
November 15, 2008 is America Recycles Day, a day dedicated to promoting the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and buying recycled products. The goal of the America Recycles Day campaign is to increase the purchase of recycled content products and recycling throughout North America.

There are many things you can do at home to increase your recycling.  A majority of communities in Oakland County offer curbside or drop-off recycling programs for residents.  If you are unsure what is available to you, contact your local community offices for additional information.  You can also make a conscious effort to purchase recycled products.  A vast array of items from paper to carpet to clothing can be made with recycled materials.  Look for products made from recycled materials.

On November 15th, many communities across the country will host events to increase recycling awareness, and provide an opportunity for residents to commit to increase their efforts to recycle and buy recycled content products.  Check local newspapers in the weeks leading up to November 15th or contact your community office to find out if any America Recycles Day events are scheduled in your community.  Oakland County is coordinating a Clean Out Your Files Day for county employees.  The county will track how much additional recycling is generated through this activity.  You can also take part in this national awareness campaign by visiting the national website at:
